The damage shown was caused by hitting a full sized deer at 75 mph. It happened at about 10 pm while returning from the Fiat gathering (OR2K) near Ashland, OR. The incident occurred on I-5 southbound, about 1 mile South of Yreka, CA, 40 miles from Ashland. A bummer in the Summer…..Pete Angel

Sun 7/23/00 - The morning after. After spending the night in the local Motel 6, we hiked a mile to where we had parked the car overnight. We then assessed the damage.

Damage assessment: Heavy damage to hood, DS fender, grille, radiator, radiator support, bumper, turn signals and DS headlight & trim ring. The impact threw the deer forward and (conveniently) to the shoulder of the road

When we hit the deer, we heard it before we actually saw the impact. When we heard the sound of broken glass, we though it was the windshield beginning to explode. It was the headlight.

Tues 7/25/00 - Back Home. In order to drive the car back to Colorado, the hood and grille had to be removed, left as a shrine on the interstate, 2100 miles away. The red shown in the pic is only the original paint exposed.
