This is the procedure I use to install control arm bushings into control arms. I've been using this procedure for 20 years with no ill effects. You can do the same thing on one lower bushing but the second bushing requires a good vice instead of the 36mm socket.



Step one: arm, bushing, 32mm deep impact socket, 36mm socket


Step two: Position arm over 36 mm socket


Step three: Squeeze bushing into 32mm socket


Step four: Position the whole thing together. One or two good whacks and the bushing slides into the arm.
