Re: Speedo Drive and Internal Drive Gear

Simply count the teeth of the internal gear, you will see they are different. Look at it axially (from the side) to easily count the number of teeth. At work I have a chart of what number of teeth on the gear and speedo drive goes with what rear end ratio. Btw, since Fiat speedometers are usually op...

Is this the same thinner core X1/9s use? Several of us have fitted thicker 124 cores to our cars.
No idea, I do not have an X. I would have assume Fiat would have used the same heater core in as many models as possible, but who knows.

Re: Transmission

--I just examined 3 speedo drives, one each of 4.1, 4.3 and 3.9 (blue, red and white respectively). The drive gears on the speedo drives (that mesh with the internal gear) do appear to be different diameters, and the shafts that extend into the transmission appear to be the same length. I think the temperature gauge ground and it's dash light share the same ground on the back of the instrument case.
Correct. I ran a second ground wire to the gauges and they no longer move when I turn on the lights.

Re: Aux shaft bearings, nightmare or no big deal

Yes, basically the only difficulty in installing them is finding something round the correct side to tap them in. Since they are thin the object has to be pretty close to their OD, but can't be bigger. Watch out, as the front one has to be clocked correctly, or oil won't flow through it. There are 2...
