Re: Anybody recognize this metal cup?

The early design for the throttle on 124s is easily the worst solution to that problem possible. As the engine rocks on its mounts on acceleration and deceleration the throttle opening changes without you moving the pedal. It is part of what creates the pogoing effect many early 124s suffer. Changin...

Re: Clip drawings in library

A fine gentleman who is redoing a AC Sport Coupe took an existing clip from his car, drew it up in CAD, exported a STL file to send to a printer and then had the part printed using a deposition printer. He showed people and after being asked, he kindly offered his files to everyone for free. His nam...

Re: Marbles in my engine - '78 Spider

On Xweb there have been a few of the phenolic cam pulleys that the center section fails and the cam can move relative to the pulley. It makes exactly the sound you are complaining of as it gets loaded by pulling the cam over the lifter and then having it snap back and then pulling the cam over the n...

Re: 38mm rear calipers - maybe not my best idea

...As I've approached the 200hp mark in the spider, I kind of thought I'd like something a little more efficient though! ...One proportioning valve on the rear circuit, and one on each of the front circuits. Front are matched (obviously) but I couldn't find a dual circuit valve :) -----------------...

Re: Weber experts!

Perhaps add a relay to control power to the coil and thus avoid the Prince of Darkness, Lucas and BL electrics as modified by the PO.

Re: gas leak

The clamp looks maxed out in terms of adjustment, a smaller clamp may be in order.

I would replace the hoses at each, the clamps for a more appropriate size and likely a new filter.

Bummer of a way to start the driving season.

Re: 38mm rear calipers - maybe not my best idea

I agree with Karl’s logic path here. As an interim step, I would simply place a proportioning valve in the rear brake line up by the MC, and restrict the fluid flow slightly - not a lot - right up until you get no locking. A This unit would be ideal, inexpensive and as Andy suggests could be plumbe...

Re: 38mm rear calipers - maybe not my best idea

I would go back to the smaller rear pistoned calipers and put in a pressure reducing valve. The rear locking up is due to weight transfer. You have a number of things you changed that all add up to trouble in this area. Consider that on front wheel drive cars until the advent of ABS the front brakes...

Re: fabricating a M/C inlet

I personally find the 124 brakes massively over boosted, I would have considered staying with the OE booster for the smaller MC and made whatever arrangement needed to fit the larger master. I am prefer the unboosted brake feel of the X and the 850 as they are easier to modulate, for me. Sounds like...
