Re: '69 Spider / '81 Engine Swap

As far as I know, your only big concern will be the added height of the 2L engine. I installed a 2L carbed engine in my 78 (original 1.8L) with the small bump hood and had no issues with the height. One trick that I did do (although I really didn't have to) was to spin the distributor cap 180 degree...

Re: Emergency brake cable routing sanity check

There is one possible variable, the pics mentioned in the latest 2 posts show the pre-78-1/2 older style axle setups. They do match the cable routing on my 78 Spider (but not the 82). Perhaps things got changed up with the newer style rear axle setup?

Re: Emergency brake cable routing sanity check

You are right, there is absolutely no other way the trailing arms can be positioned with the angled tabs. So, I'll conclude that is the way they configured the set-up on the later models. Logical? Who knows...

Auto-Power Roll Bar (SOLD), Steering Wheel, misc NEW parts

After purchasing this roll bar 4-5 years ago and watching it collect dust in my shop, I have come to the realization I'll never install it in my Spider. So, I decided to put it up for sale and give it a new home. This roll bar is in very nice condition, but it could certainly use a new black powder ...

Re: Emergency brake cable routing sanity check

Both of my control arms have the tabs. The drivers side faces down and the passenger side faces up. Not to say one could have been flipped.

Emergency brake cable routing sanity check

OK folks, I need a sanity check on the routing of the E brake cable on the 79 and later Spiders. Over this past weekend, I was working under my recently acquired 82 Turbo Spider and noticed something odd (at least to me) on the routing of the emergency brake cable. On the passenger (right) side of t...

Re: oil filter and plug recommendations

Having worked in and around the mining industry for the past 30+ years, the WIX brand filters have proven themselves as a very high quality filter. I won't use any other brand of filter on my vehicles and other equipment. Wix 51189 or the NAPA 1189 Gold (which is made and rebranded by Wix). They're ...

Re: Air auxiliary valve

Ah, so its a Standard Motor Products AC366 'Idle Air Control Valve'. Brilliant!

Richard, maybe that's one worth noting for your Bosch FI part number document...
