Re: Looking for FI Wiring Harness

The other (related to the enrichment switches) difference is the turbo harness has only two wires connected to the Throttle Position Switch (TPS), whereas the regular FI harness has three wires connected to the TPS.

Re: Floor repair sheet metal gauge

OK, the jury is in. My measurement was taken on a nice clean (on both sides) piece of solid sheet metal next to the 1-1/2" or so plastic plug under the drive seat on my 82 Spider. The original sheet metal measured .036" which according to the charts is 19 gauge. I will be making repairs with a piece...

Re: Floor repair sheet metal gauge

Good question. When I cut out the bad section, I'll mic the surrounding metal and publish the result.

One more question, what is the gauge of the the floor repair panels that our suppliers are selling? Csaba?

Re: timing belt -

You are correct, on the 1.8 L engine, you do not have to remove the crank pulley. You do on the 2 L engine if the original backing plate/cover (shown in the top right illustration) is still in place. A lot of folks (myself included) permanently remove the backing plate/cover on the 2L as a result.

Re: Floor repair sheet metal gauge

Chris, I chuckled when I read your post. I wound up buying a piece of 20 gauge steel (on eBay) for this little project, clearly putting me in the middle of the suggestions.

Re: I'm sure the modifications can be reversed....

When I had my 78 Spider painted a few years back, I gave them two deck lids to paint, one with the luggage rack and one without. Future owners can take their pick. I happen to like the OE luggage rack.

Re: Floor repair sheet metal gauge

I certainly found that to be the truth. If you want 16 or 22 gauge, your in luck. Otherwise, go get a salvaged door, trunk lid or hood to cannibalize.
