I grew up around boats and it is true. Think about those bearings - they heat up as you tow the trailer and then you back them into a cold river or lake. Not only does that rapid temperature change affect them, but the water doesn't do them any good either.

Re: Back wind screen

Yes. I used a wind blocker from Raceland: https://raceland.com/mazda-coilovers/miata-1989-1997/mazda-miata-mx-5-windblocker.html I fabricated brackets that connect to the shoulder bolt on the lower hinge of the convertible top mechanism near the door jam. It was designed to clear the seatbelt and se...

Re: Money does not equal intelligence

It's not uncommon to see a less than show-quality two-stage paint job cost $20K. Most body shops want to strip the car to bare metal and start from scratch which is very labor intensive. A true show quality paint job can cost twice that. Add in the re-chroming and buffing out stainless steel compone...

Mudge --- you're selling it too cheap in my opinion. Anyone interested in an X1/9 needs to snap this car up. Knowing him, the car is extremely well sorted out.

Re: Thousands of new mirafiori members

It's not that Fiat can't read the US market, but that Fiat can't read the market and is building unreliable vehicles. No company can survive offering three derivatives of the same model (500, 500L and 500x), a retro 124 Spider with the exact same motor used in their other three models, and have the ...

Re: '75 124 Spider, Reno

I saw that one too. Price seems a tad high given the condition inside and how long it has been sitting. Happy birthday - hope you get the X sorted out! I got my 71 started after removing and troubleshooting the wiring harness issues including removing the burned wiring. You get the trans in your car...

Re: 1608 Engine Rebuild

I took my 2 liter motor to them with the new pistons. They bored the motor to match the pistons and it took about a week. They were quick. You can always provide them a date that you need it back. They will let you know if they can do it. I only had one very lengthy project, but that was because the...

Re: craigslist question

Yes...a bunch of Craigslist idiots and this is typical. People are now posting at the top of the ad "IF THIS AD IS STILL ON CRAIGSLIST, THE CAR IS STILL AVAILABLE". I hear it helps. My favorite is a woman who wanted a CarFax report on a 40 year old car I was selling. I informed her that you can't ge...

Re: Credit Card Fraud

Thanks for being on top of it. I spent the last 10 years as an accredited financial counselor and credit card theft is a rampant problem. I spent a lot of time helping people who were victims.
