Re: What is the proper way to Measure valve shims
Anyone got a dial indicator and v-blocks to see how much variance there is on a Fiat DOHC cam between 90 and 180 degrees? ------------------------------------ --Robert, I think you are missing the point. Cams lobes may vary in diameter at the 90 degree measurement, particularly on re-grinds when th...

Anyone got a dial indicator and v-blocks to see how much variance there is on a Fiat DOHC cam between 90 and 180 degrees? That would settle this once and for all.

Re: What is the proper way to Measure valve shims
The ramp angles of the camshaft lobes vary depending on the duration and lift, so some cams can give a tighter clearance at 90 degrees than at 180 degrees. Where to measure them depends on what the given cam manufacturer specifies. If you are running stock cams, based on what factory literature I ha...

Re: Why the distributor relocation on later 124's?
I think I can answer that. It's the same reason why they moved the battery to the trunk.

Re: How are new spider sales doing?
Millennials, being the current young but mature age group might be the target audience but that group is apparently only interested in SUVS. 1960s and 70s may have been the heyday for sale of fun vehicles when Europeans couldn't make enough sports cars and Japanese enough motorcycles to fuel the de...

Re: How are new spider sales doing?
FCA has thrown all their capital at keeping the Ram and Jeep models relevant, as well as build on the higher profit Maserati and Alfa brands. From there the Dodges, Chryslers, and Fiats are all the bench, waiting their turn to get something new. When the economy slacks, ease of financing is reduced,...

Re: Rust particles in fuel filter
Over thinking. If the rubber lines going in the cabin were suspect then so are the section of rubber line going to and from the gas tank and the carb from the steel lines. When you see the stock steel lines falling apart when you touch them and now you know why you kept smelling gas fumes in the ca...

Re: Rust particles in fuel filter
I plan on running the a new gas tank and the old metal lines as Fiat intended, but to make sure there is no rust in the lines, I'm going to flush them out by connecting a piece of fuel hose in a "U" fashion to the fuel feed and return lines near the firewall, then disconnecting the return hose at th...
