Re: Garage building thoughts, aesthetics & ultimate shop layout

It looks amazing, Chris. I'm so used to working in rented spaces or Apartment carports, I would have thought I died and went to heaven if I had that kind of workshop. Probably for the best though - I tend to make messes when working on old cars and I'd probably have that looking a bit ratty within a...

Re: 32/36 DFEV - no fuel thru venturi

FINALLY got my problem fixed. Two items were repaired and after that she ran like a proper Lampredi engine. 1. Replaced backwards advancing Marelli Electronic Ignition. Found a Point style dizzy with a Bosch blue coil and Crane fireball pickup unit and swapped it out. Now the ignition timing is foll...

Re: 32/36 DFEV - no fuel thru venturi

Cool, I got the aux vent issue correct by the sound of it. Vacuum gauge is a good tool, if you're pulling 12-15 inches of vacuum then you should be OK. Idle dropping a little when the fan kicks in, sort of normal. I agree with adjusting the idle speed up a little when the engine is warmed Weird tim...

Re: 32/36 DFEV - no fuel thru venturi

When the car is warmed up and the fan operating,, I cannot adjust the idle higher without the car starting to misfire and starve for fuel, it's like whatever gas it is getting is only enough for 720rpm when under load / warmed up. As for vacuum advance, it's been unplugged. I have since connected it...

Re: 32/36 DFEV - no fuel thru venturi

Good point, I'll need to check the vacuum readings with a gauge. I did block off the brake booster hose because there is a slight vacuum leak there, but it was a minor leak, only affected the idle about 25 rpm or so. The car does act odd - the longer it runs, the lower the idle speed goes until it p...

Re: 32/36 DFEV - no fuel thru venturi

Well... it was a valiant attempt. Found some clips, removed the carb top and reset the float to spec (38.5mm), Then I pulled out the venturis and added the clips. Better fit. Then removed the jets and emulsion tubes, as well as idle bleed jets and blew them all out. She idles fine but the carb will ...

Re: 32/36 DFEV - no fuel thru venturi

I did slide the venturi out, it was in the correct way although it did not have a clip - it fits loosely. Think a missing tension clip could be the culprit? I'm going to pilfer another carb for it's clip, remove the jets and emulsion tubes, then blow out the passages and see what that gets me.

32/36 DFEV - no fuel thru venturi

I have a bit of a dilemma with the carb I've installed on my '71. Only the idle and choke circuit and accelerator pump is working, but no fuel is being atomized thru the venturi when you open the throttle. It doesn't seem to be a float level or fuel problem, the bowl will fill without issue. It just...

Re: Fiat cooling systems in general?

Domestic vehicles of years past always put the radiator cap/tank at a level that was higher than the motor itself and the simple fact that they never needed to be burped probably saved lots of people headaches when doing their backyard coolant flushes. There were domestic cars that had overheating p...
