Re: 75 spider build

I hope it's a fuel/carb issue and not a top end valve train/timing problem.

Thanks

Re: 75 spider build

This issue you have been, were you able to resolve, I'm having something similar happen to my 124, it's running on 3 cylinders, where the number 1 cylinder exhaust header is not hot. The car is a 2 litre with dual idf carbs. The carbs are shooting fuel. Car is back firing loudly and stalling Could t...

Re: Welding

Mig welding with gas is a better option than flux core on Fiat metal, I'm far from being an expert but have tried flux core that tends to burn through with a cheapie arc unit. Cleaning/grinding any old paint, rust, or sludge from the old Fiat metal also increases the chance for Welds to stick. I hav...

Re: Rust particles in fuel filter

Jseabolt, I also have a 53 year old mustang, fuel tank was replaced 3 years ago because pinholes started to rust through and leak fuel. The two 78 Fiat I own, have new fuel tanks as well, the difference is rust particles in both fiat filters and none in the Ford. I'm of the opinion that metal qualit...

Re: Two 1978 Fiat Spiders

Hi Jim: Although I'm the proud owner of this car, I was not involved with the restoration, previous owner had the car for about 25 years and changed out the interior. I was under the impression it came from a donor car that was a factory supplied interior. But not sure, I wish I could be more helpful.

Re: Two 1978 Fiat Spiders

Hi Jim: I believe both have 3.9 diff, the white one is an early 78 model, that has an uprated 2.0 L motor, dual webers, headers, distributor less ignition. The black 124 is late 78 model, you can tell by door handles, it has a 1.8 L. I believe taillights are period correct or slightly earlier for th...

Re: Rust particles in fuel filter

Thanks for your reply, would you be concerned with the degradation of the rubber lines over time running under the rug of the car. Or am I over analyzing this and rubber gas rated lines are a perfect substitute for in cabin fuel Iines.

Re: Rust particles in fuel filter

I know their are a few options of material to use for the lines. I've noticed aluminum, copper/nickel, zinc coated steel, pvc coated steel can be purchased as alternatives.

Pros and Cons of any of these options? Has anyone tried aluminum or copper/nickel.

Rust particles in fuel filter

I was wondering if many have experienced rust particles in the fuel line of their 40 year spider 1978 to be exact. I know gas tank is new and have 2 additional filters before and after the electric fuel pump. My only other thought is the hard gas lines are breaking up, with rust making its way to th...
