Re: Drifty steering

This style of unit, in this case at Harbor Freight but they are available from other places. https://www.harborfreight.com/3-4-quarter-inch-forged-ball-joint-separator-99849.html Tie rod removers are often too small for the main ball joint for the steering knuckle and can’t be used for the pitman ar...

Re: Drifty steering

Indeed the factory recommended service instructions recommend exactly what Carl has espoused, reading and following the manual will save future you from a whole bunch of trouble. Yes you should be able to leave the tie rod end and the center link on the rest of the steering while you replace the idl...

Re: VW/Audi auxiliary water pump (Fiat content)

You are referring to thermo siphon which requires a bit of height differential and large openings. It wouldn't work on a modern engine. There are a few different versions of the VW pump with different capacities as well. You could look into integrating a two speed fan from a VW, Ford Taurus or Volvo...

Re: VW/Audi auxiliary water pump (Fiat content)

They are used to cool the engine when shut off. The system is designed to have a free path in the coolant system that bypasses the thermostat and the other mechanical pump. They are used on turbocharged cars and the VR6 and V6 engines. For the turbo cars it assists in ensuring the turbo is properly ...

Re: No start 76 131

Yes it should have power when in the ‘on’ position and depending on how or if the system has been rewired, also either always hot when cranking or only hot in the ‘on’ position after the oil pressure is up. It’s hard to know how a car has been modified over time, at least from here :) Be sure to use...

Re: Spider 2000 EFI A/C idle advance mechanism

Yes as long as the AFM sees the air, it should act like the throttle plate is opened slightly.

I don’t know if the X had the same diameter valve as the 124, the 850 air valve I am pretty certain is a smaller diameter opening than my 87 AC X’s valve.

Re: Diagnosing Ignition Problems

Agreed, I often see them the opposite way, bleeder on the bottom with the sensor on top. Thus how the sensor can be rubbed or have force on it from the hood.

Re: Diagnosing Ignition Problems

I actually had a fuel injection problem I thought was ignition related and busted my balls trying to figure it out. This misfire would come and go over a course of 2 years. One of those intermittent problems caused by a faulty device you hope will eventually just die so it can be identified. The fi...

Re: Spider 2000 EFI A/C idle advance mechanism

What you have done is added unmetered air. This is leaning the combustion mixture. You need to run the plumbing just as the factory did so that it is drawing air through the Air Fuel Meter and the AFM will meter more fuel raising the idle speed, effectively as if the throttle was opened by the amoun...
