valve cover bolt hex size

Post by bnam2 » Mon Jan 29, 2018 10:03 pm

I tried to open the cam cover on the twin cam on my 1500 spider. Turns out the hex is 13mm in size which I don't have. Now, I've owned 2 Fiat Spider 2000s and never had an issue with removing valve covers before. Remind me, were they all 13mm size or do I have an oddball on my 1500?

I think the early ones were 12 or 13mm (a 12mm hex works, same one used for oil drain plugs), but later ones are smaller.

--Byas, if you have a 12mm hex, put a rag around it and it will fit well enough.
