Spanish Weber IDF 70 series float levels

Post by fastfiat81 » Sun Feb 04, 2018 10:44 pm

Curiosity has me posting this question. Redline weber says floats should be set at 14mm with the gasket. All other IDFs are set at 10mm with gasket. Supposedly the reason is 10% ethanol fuel has a different density therefore floats sit higher or some such. Either that or maybe the floats are a different design/shape than other older models. Don't know...

Anybody have 70 series carbs with floats set at 10mm? Have any fuel problems? I have them at 14mm now and plan on trying out 10-12mm and see what happens.

Never heard of this and the best solution seems to try It out like you plan on doing.

I searched the net a bit and seen where others have asked the same questions. Most seem to run 11mm float level with the gasket which is what I am going to try. Also looked at the differences between the older series carbs and the latest XE series. None of the updates would warrant a 14mm float level in my mind. Weird. Oh well...
