What goes here on the left side of the steering wheel?

What goes here on the left side of the steering wheel?

There is a bracket with double pink wires on the left side of the steering wheel. What goes here? What am I missing.

That is the socket for the infamous, phantom work light socket. Never seen one but rumors are they exist.

and it's in the middle of a power circuit to other items so don't go snipping wires.

Isn't that the primitive OBD connector? Instead of a check engine light you get a light to check your engine with.
