Auxiliary air regulator adjustment

My 82 has been subjected to a number of hamfisted adjustments, the most recent I found was an incorrect adjustment of the cold start component - the auxiliary air regulator. In my case the cold idle speed was too low, this is because the little opening in the regulator had been adjusted to be shut when cold.

To adjust this device first remove it and clean it out with electronic contact cleaner, then let it dry. Place it in a freezer for an hour or so. Upon removal, look through the hole and you should see a little opening. Install it back on you car without the power to it plugged in and with the car cold - and start the motor. The RPMs should be around 1100 or 1200. If not then you can adjust the opening by loosening the little nut on the back of the device and moving it to increase or decrease the opening. Remember it has to be cold when you make this adjustment.
