BARF - good times that I enjoyed from afar

http://barf.mirafiori.com/index.html

I don't know what I was doing the other night, but I ran across this old site that I thought had been shut down years ago. Some of the links to pics are dead, but I still vicariously enjoyed (re)reading about some of the past events. My only regret is that I never participated in any of them. I don't know what my lame excuses were then, but all I can recollect from the time most of these events were taking place was being newly married and with a new mortgage, so I guess my attentions were elsewhere.

I will recreate the 2004 Sierra BARF one day, as those are some of my favorite roads and small towns.

From the BARF FAQ's: "When is BARF? Whenever you want."

I can attest to this. In 2006 I was visiting Rich Stephens and staying overnight in his guest quarters, aka the Fiat 238 camper van. On a few hours notice Rich called a meeting of BARF and I got to meet Dan Loomis, Dave Voss and Pierre B. among others. Even got a BARF tee-shirt to bring back to Maryland. The main elements of the meeting were cheap beer and pizza at a location with free curbside parking, a formula that works equally well on the East Coast as it happens. Sadly I left without discovering the meaning of "shoefish".

I went on a few of those drives. The one up to Lake Sonoma, (I think that was the lake.) and out to the coast, back down on Highway 1 was my favorite. I looked at the pix from the "King City BARF Run" and thought, "Who is that dark haired, thin dude looking at my car?" Oh [expletive]...... that was me! Ugh...... what 15 years can do to a guy! Hahahahahahaha! -Steve

Since posting images is sooo easy now, I thought I'd include 2 from the "Sonoma to the Coast" BARF. (Circa 2003) :-) -Steve
