Well instead of Fiat Dino's does anyone have thoughts on the
Spider Volumex ? It seems rarer than those 85 1/2s (which are
mighty rare). The discussion here last week about Volumex's
prompted a few emails and as far as I can tell none made it to NA
and all live in Germany or Italy. While they may regularly come
up for sale they are pricey at something like 30,000 DM
(us$20,000 ?). It doesn't even sound like there's been a volumex
motor shoved in a spider (heard of several scorpions though).

I just can't leave well enough alone but I love the lines of the
Spider so why not supercharge it. I have yet to see the fender
flares offered as an add on although they seem to be reminiscent
of the Abart Spiders and I heard the Volumex's (built starting
in 1983 apparently) all had the bigger brakes and upgraded
suspension (not sure about the R&P steering) ?

Any takers ?

Do anyone have a picture of those wheels ?
I have seen some very attractive Spedline wheels on different
Peugeots, could the Volumex wheels be same type or close in
design?

The picture on the first page of the german fiat spider club is a
volumex spider - wheels and all - check it out at
http://www.fiatspider.de/
If you dig deeper you'll find more spider VX pics at
http://www.fiatspider.de/e/l_4bc.htm
If you're into copies of the wheels I found them for sale at C
Obert & Co Wall of wheels at
http://we.got.net/~fiatplus/wheelwal.htm
it's wheel number 19 - to reduce the wait go directly to the
wheel at
http://we.got.net/~fiatplus/wheel19.htm

Help - I've turned into a spider Vx fiend !

Cheers

Is it possible to change the vent windows over from an X to the
spider to get those mirrors to work? I don't like the mirror
set up on my spider currently and always did like the late x
mirrors.

So is it possible to remove the current vent windows and install
stationary glass then drill the holes and mount some x mirrors?
Or is that more trouble than it is worth.
