Cheap spider in Virgnia

I believe this is the guy who sold me my 75 spider a few months ago. If you were looking for a relatively inexpensive basis for a full resto or just wanted to do the minimum to get it on the road this might not be a bad car. He has been advertising this spider for months and the price is trickling down. Make a counter offer and away you go.

I really have no connection to the sale of this car, just pointing it out in the modern age of $3,000 spiders advertised as parts cars.

Well send him the money and I'll go collect it for you. With three Fiats in front of the house I don't think my wife would even notice a fourth!

Watch out, Carl. I’ve thought the same thing and it turns out she did notice. ;)

Sheesh, now posted with a price of $950. When it gets to $500 I'll have to buy it and I have a project spider (which I bought from this guy).

This car, at that price doesn't sound too bad. If you want a project.
Money wise you might be able to find an alternative for less.
If you're looking to restore the car, I doubt you can do it for less than you can buy one that's already done. If you are looking to do a rat/track day type of car, there are cheaper alternatives available. If you would like to do just enough to get it back on the road and running reliably that's another thing. But I don't think you'll make much money on it when you pass it along - if you do that.
And that's why so many of these cars, in that condition, end up in the scrap yard.
If you want a project, this car could be a good one, if the drivetrain in in good condition. There's a great deal of satisfaction in resurrecting a car in that condition. But the seller would IMHO have to come down in price to something closer to scrap value. Factors to consider: how many spare (used) parts do you have on hand? Are you willing to invest more money into the project (assume time is free as it was obtained as a project). Will you be happy with that car once it's "done"? Do you have enough room for it?
If Wheeler Dealers is your favorite TV show I say - Make a deal on the car, get out the spanners, put the kettle on, and get down to business. They never seem to really "make" any money on any of the cars they do either.
