I just happen to know exactly how badass a 124 spider with a hard top looks like and what a badass Miata looks like with a hardtop.

And sadly I don't own either one of those cars anymore.

It's nice to hear at least one guy actually responded to this ad in the proper manner, thanks Mike.

Chris, I thought you bought the Miata that way (I bought this cutey from Chris).

The difference between the factory hardtop on the Miata and Parrish/Smooth Line hardtop on the Spider in the pictures above is that Miata top adds $1,000 to the value of the car. That Spider hardtop subtracts a similar amount. Even Pininfarina could not come up with an attractive Spider hardtop because the distance from the rear edge of the door glass to the rear deck requires the additional glazing that the convertible top provides to both balance the look and eliminate a blind spot.

Maybe so, Richard but when you spider soft top is rotten and you need to park the car outside a hardtop is a nice thing to have. JD, with a street hard top fit over your rollbar?

Nah---it was 100% stock when I drove it home from the previous owner's house including the factory daisy wheels. I got a red hardtop off a $500 parts car (score!) and then traded the red hardtop for a silver one. A local Miata spec racer had a red Miata with a silver top and was happy to trade with me.
