Re: Fiats at the 2015 SCCA run off's

--Stan, that's how I saw it as well. I would call it "driving line" through
the corner, and the rule favors the lead car. Then of course he did the same
thing to Eric Prill, which may turn out to be a mistake, based on Prill's
position as operations chief for SCCA. We shall see.

--Some interesting notes from this class: (1) 9 of the 20 cars starting the
race were not running at finish. This underscores the level of preparation of
these cars, and in many cases, the age. (2) The top 4 finishers of the race
all broke the track lap-record for the class, as well as Baucom in his 124
Spider, and Huffacker's MG Midget. IE. 6 of 20. I think this is more rule
creep than car and driver, although it clearly takes both.

--My belated congratulations to Matt Brannon and his X1/9 for his 6th place
start and finish in the H-Production class. That class too had a spectacular
race.

Final Standings for F-Production Runoffs

Post by fp55scca » Sun Sep 27, 2015 6:53 pm

--Well, the final standings are in for the F-Production Runoffs, and Charlie
Cambell apparently was dropped 3 places to finish 5th, vice 2nd. He might have
gotten away with spinning Baucom, but turning Eric Prill around was a bad
idea. I think the race stewards made the right call.

Good to hear that. Rumor has it Gary had pulled off due to some medical issue.
Hope he is ok.
This was reported on the prod racing site. Hopefully more to follow.

--Follow-up on the prod racing site says Gary had an Electromotive pickup
failure, putting him on the side of the track in lap 10. He may have had some
heat stress related issues after exiting the car.

--A lot of noise over the H-prod finish, as well there should be. I
wouldn't want to try to judge that one without seeing additional video. It
apparently took the race stewards 26 hours to sort it one out. Again,
congratulations to Matt Brannon who managed to escape the carnage in that race,
but still finish in a respectable 6th place.

Thanks Jim, for the update. I hope Gary will be back next year as the
Runoffs will be at Mid Ohio, almost in my backyard. I may have to come out
and see what all the fuss is about. Spectate that is. I don't have the
funds to participate.
