Anyone sell a vehicle on Bring a Trailer?

Interested in how it went, what to expect, what to look out for, etc. You can post here or send me a private message or email. Done Craigsllist and I'm OK with that, sold some wheels on ebay and seriously did not enjoy that and would never sell anything there again but have bought many items off ebay.

Yes I have.

It went better than I expected.
They use an auction format, they strongy suggest not using a reserve, and looking back I think it is not bad advice.
To sell a car on BAT there is a form they ask you to fill out and submit pictures. They will write the posting, of course you have the ability to aks them to add/delete/change any of the verbage.
Auctions last for 7 days, typically most of the action happens in the last few minutes.

Keep an eye on your listing, answer questions as quickly as you can. The more pictures you can upload the better. BAT has a pretty good guide on the types of pictures they want.

Overall I would say they have it pretty well figured out.

We sold our Lemons car at the end of last year on BaT. Overall a very positive experience. I think on Bat, you are targeting enthusiasts in most cases. I know Csaba and I check it weekly for cools cars.

I get daily emails and look at the emails when they come in, scan for cool looking cars. I also tend to read the comments. Like said above, the more photo the better. Also mentioned above, be quick to answer comments. That seems to be important to the following.

I read the Italian car portion everyday just for fun. Used to look at the German car section to watch the guys go rabid over 356 Porsches but those guys need therapy.

If you do decide to list Froggie on BaT, think about window decals. A few years ago BaT had a red 79 Spider with no bumper and two big driving lights. It had an old FLU decal on the back window which the seller, "Drivin Ivan", said showed that it had been rebuilt by a knowledgeable mechanic. I see that same car sans driving lights but still running the BiTurbo wheels is for sale again in Olney. It was one of the few Spiders listed on Bat in recent years that did not bring a good price. I think it was the decal.

How about an old Mirafiori sticker on the vent window? I really liked the Retro Cars sticker I had on the green spider (from the British mag Retro Cars) but I had to swap out the top frame when we installed a new top so that sticker which was on the rear side window is now sitting along side John's shop.

I'll wait till the weather is more conducive to a nice photo shoot before I head over to the BAT auction.
