Late (Pininfarina) Spider Seat Questions

Post by bartigue » Mon Nov 05, 2018 1:18 pm

Question -

USA Spiders always had the same seats, but mention was made of the late European cars having the same seats as the Alfa Spider. Is this right? I saw where they have the same seat belt retainer and the seats look like the thinner Alfa seats.

The Spider Europa and Spider Volumex appear to use the Alfa Spider shoulder belt retainer. The seat cushions look slightly different than those used in the late Spiders sold in North America and much different than Alfa Spiders sold in NA. Perhaps someone who owns a Volumex Spider in North America can provide the definitive answer.

Thanks. They don't look like the long base seats Alfa used but have FIAT looking headrests. Note the wheel control on the inside, tilt on the outside.

I thought they were the same - Euro model Pinin Spider 2000 (or whatever their official name was after 1982) and the Alfa (at least of the North American models) from the 83-85 era.

I think the Alfa stiching pattern on the covering was slightly different but the seat bases, controls and seat belt holder I thought were the same between 83-85 Alfa and 83-85 Pinin

Can't definitively say since I never had the 2 side by side though I currently do have a worn set of Alfa seats to go into a 124 spider I am restoring and may be able to compare to a volumex spider in the not to distant future ...

Jim B has my previous volumex spider - not sure if he frequents mira
