New truck, couple questions

Post by jfarr » Mon Apr 15, 2019 8:15 pm

Traded Prima #13 for a 2015 Ram 1500. Lots of power and room. Was hoping someone here would have some Dodge/Ram wisdom and could answer a couple questions. Seems like collectively this forum knows quite a bit about a lot of things so here goes:

1. Would love to buy a spare set of steel wheels and mount winter tires on them. Have five bolt Dodge or Ram wheels changed any over the years or would any of their basic steel wheels fit?

2. My truck currently has the 20" wheels and tires on it. The truck also came from the factory with 17" wheels as an option. Would the 17" wheels fit on the truck or is there brake clearance issue to be worried about?

In 1971 if you wanted a vehicle with an all aluminum V-6 and double overhead cams putting out 80hp per liter you'd be looking at something from Ferrari or Maserati. If you wanted a full-sized pickup that could get 20mpg you'd be out of luck. Today you can get that plus electronic ignition, variable valve timing and fuel injection in the base model RAM pickup from Fiat Chrysler. I use:
