May 16-17, 1998 we'll be at beautiful Honeyman State Park, near Florence Oregon.
Saturday the 16th, we'll regroup (not all folks will be camping at Honeyman), and then a Tour up the coast, starting at about 11:00am.
This Drive will be very fluid in that we will keep going as long as it is fun! Some local folks are planning a Tour route, but the idea is to get our cars out on the road, and enjoy them at moderate to not-so-moderate speeds as conditions permit!
It will be a Tour, not a Race, so each Driver will be able to proceed at the pace that is comfortable for them. There are no points for passing the Tour Leader, and the idea is to just use our Cars, and enjoy the Countryside. Myself (and hopefully Lalo Ruiz of Fiat America) will hold a Pre-Tour meeting, and explain the system we’ve used in Fiat America events. It’s been very successful, and I highly recommend you buy or borrow a CB Radio for this stage. Two-way Radio contact keeps folks in touch, and during a Tour this is almost essential. If you cannot locate a CB, then there may be some Loaner units available, but I urge you to RSVP these via email as they are sure to be in short supply.
After the Tour, there will be a BYO Barbecue at Honeyman, after which I plan to break out into Special Interest sessions.
There will be a lot of general BS conversations, but one of the things I'd like to do are some specialized Tech
sessions.
Courtney Waters should be on hand to talk 128 issues, and hopefully David Voss will be there to speak X1/9 and general Suspension optimization.
I plan to strip my '80 124 front end for some inspection, and probably some heated discussion regarding the care and feeding of the 124 Front end… Thankfully, my old friend Kelly Dicker will be there to help resolve any questions, as he’s been working on Fiats longer than most of us and is on the Front Line with Fiat/Lancia issues.
If you wish to host your own breakout, please mail the List, and we'll be happy to provide some time!
Sunday the 17th, we will have the option of participating in a local Parade, a local Autocross, or perhaps Both!
This Page is the most dynamic, as the plans for the event are still underway. Join the List, get involved, and I look forward to seeing you all there!
